Michael Jordan may be the greatest player in NBA history, but even he can't get away with wearing cargo shorts on a golf course.
Jordan showed up at La Gorce Country Club in Miami on Wednesday wearing cargo shorts, which is against the dress code at the facility.
Apparently no one noticed until he played a few holes of his round, because while on the 12th hole, Jordan was approached by club personnel who asked that he return to the clubhouse and change his pants.
Jordan refused. (It would have been great if Jordan said, "I can't hear you over the sound of my six NBA rings.") Jordan then was asked to never return to the club. Which seems a bit harsh.
A representative of Jordan released the following statement:
"Michael Jordan did wear cargo pants. He had been there many times before and had worn cargo pants previously, and had never been made aware that he was violating any dress code. This time, he was made aware of the violation on the 12th hole, and at that point he did refuse to interrupt his game, and return to the clubhouse and change. We were not aware that he is not allowed to return to La Gorce. I guess it’s their loss -- as MJ is a great golfer, and a great guest."
This reminds me of an episode of Family Guy: The Tan Aquatic with Steve Zissou When Cleveland was spotted on the golf course wearing Richard Nixon mask.
