T.H.S.N.B:The Hood Shopping Network Blog is interested in the environment in which an artist is nurtured commonly known as their “hood” or neighborhood. Where is Mardrin’s hood?
MARDRIN: Well my neighborhood lays in the Bronx, I’m originally from 170th & Bristow st.

T.H.S.N.B: Tell us why you love your hood? What are the first things you think of when your hood is brought up?

MARDRIN:  I love my neighborhood for multiple reasons. One reason is, that’s where I spent most of my life or time might I say learning different kind of things from my environment. Another reason is, most of the people I consider as friends or family now I met when I moved there from Brooklyn. They basically gave me a different outlook on life itself so that’s a few reasons why I love my hood. The first thing I think about my hood when its brought up is “Success” & “Money”. Why? Because everyone from there chases success & inherit some type of money in their own ways.

T.H.S.N.B:When you fell in love with hip-hop as an art form, which individuals or songs were the key influences in your motivation to create and express?

MARDRIN:  When I first fell in love with hip-hop I was young, I didn’t even know why I loved music so much I just knew it would have a big impact on my life soon or later.  A few artists influenced me, such as “Big Pun” “Biggie Smalls” “2 Pac” “Jay-z” “Nas” “Jadakiss” & the list could go on and on, those are just the main ones I really paid attention to.  Songs like “It’s So Hard”, “Sky Is The Limit”,  “Dear Mama”,  “Can’t Knock The Hustle”, “You’re the Man”, & “All About The Benjamins” really motivated me to make it big or far in the rap game.

T.H.S.N.B: Management is very important for an independent or signed artist. Do you have management or a street team? How did you become affiliated with your team?

Answer#5. Well as far as management, “Frank Taylor” manages me as an artist. I actually have a street team, which are ones I consider as family who decided to help me fulfill my dream. I became affiliated with my team by being me nothing more nothing less, I earned the love they have me personally & as the artist that I am.

T.H.S.N.B:What area have most of your performances in the past been held? What has been your favorite performance so far?

MARDRIN:   Most of my performances where held in “New York City” which we all consider “The Big Apple”.  My favorite performance…  Umm I would rather say I have none, well I loved everyone one of them I just love hitting the stage up & seeing my fans reactions.

MARDRIN:  Actually I have a few shows coming up & the promotion will be at it’s best so all my fans will get a notification. In the future I see myself performing at the heart of my city which is better known as “The Yankee Stadium” that actually will be a huge accomplishment for me.

T.H.S.N.B: What position do you feel that you are playing in the very competitive underground hip-hop industry?
Mardrin: I just see myself as one of the shooting guards in this game who gets the job done. Just in a hip-hop arena.

T.H.S.N.B: Who do you anticipate to work with in the future? (Producers, Directors, Artists, Engineers, etc.)
MARDRIN: In the future I would love to work with “Jay-z”, “Kanye West”, “Drake”, “Big Sean”, “Eminem”, “Chris Brown”, “Fabolous”, “Rick Ross”, “Swizz Beats” “Lex Luger”,  “Hype Williams”, “Benny Boom” “Little X” & plenty more.

MARDRIN:  I worked with two artists from my neighborhood who are doing their thing now their names are “Sal Capone” & “Himm Hot”.

T.H.S.N.B: Out of all the expressions that you could have chose, why did you choose hip-hop?
MARDRIN:  I chose hip-hop because I looked at it as my major get away from everything, I also thought about it as one of my main hobbies but now is more like my life.

T.H.S.N.B: How do you use hip-hop in your everyday life?

MARDRIN:  I basically can’t live without music, so I use hip-hop in my everyday life in many ways like how I present myself, express myself & converse with others. I also write lyrics daily so I think hip-hop plays a big part in this life I lead.

T.H.S.N.B: How are you spreading the medication and education of hip-hop in your area?
